RIGBY & PELLER - 2016 WAS AN UNDERPERFORMING YEAR IN THE USA
/Sales dropped at the Rigby & Peller (formerly Intimacy) stores in the USA by nearly 30% according to figures from Van de Velde, parent company. Reports from Van de Velde recorded “Decrease in retail turnover in the USA on a comparable basis at constant exchange rates by 20.2% (after closures of loss-making stores: -29.9%).
From a high of nearly 20 Rigby & Peller stores the number has fallen to 10 by September 2016.
Sales at Van de Velde itself slipped only slightly for the year with a profit of $41.8 million on sales of $256.8 million in 2016 (as compared to $51 million on sales of $259.9 in 2015).
