LASCIVIOUS UP FOR SALE AFTER 14 YEARS
/British luxury label Lascivious has been put up for sale this week, as the brand celebrates its 14th anniversary. Founder Chloe Hamblen discussed the brand trajectory and why she is looking for a new director to take on the business in a blog post published yesterday.
“After 14 years, Lascivious is at a point that it needs a serious level of investment to grow and cannot be self-funded anymore,” Chloe said. “We have looked at investments, but none of the potential partnerships were right. It has meant that financially, for the last few years we have been under a cloud of uncertainty and it has undoubtably affected our ability to expand the collections and grow as a brand.”
Chloe started Lascivious after working for some of the most respected designers in the field. “We were pushing boundaries and expectations of what lingerie could be, and found like-minds in independent boutique owners and other small designers. Coco De Mer in London gave me a chance on my first collection, all hand-made in my bedroom back then,” she reminisced.
Fourteen years on, it is time for a new beginning for Lascivious. “I hope that whoever buys the brand will do something truly wonderful with it. I hope that we have helped to inspire a new generation of designers to push forward and break new ground. Most of all I hope we have encouraged women to feel beautiful and confident, provocative and sensual, and evoke a real connection and playfulness between partners,” Chloe added. “If we have achieved that, then we have done our job.”
