If there’s anyone who knows bikinis, Bianca Balti knows bikinis. After all, the Italian model is Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s 2017 Rookie of the Year—and you don’t just get that title with zero knowledge of what makes a swimsuit great. So when online fashion retailer Yoox approached Balti with the opportunity to design her own line of swimwear, well, of course she had to do it. (It would be a complete disservice to us bikini-lovers if she didn’t.)

Launching today on yoox.com Balti’s collaboration with Yoox comes at us as a strong line of mix-n-match separates and sporty one-pieces straight out of a ‘60s California daydream. The vintage-inspired silhouettes range from high waisted full-coverage bottoms to classic triangle-shaped bikini tops.

While it’s hard to a pick a favorite, it’s certainly not impossible. For Balti, her picks are the striped bikini-skirts and retro one-pieces because of their versatility. “You can slip a pair of shorts on and take a stroll or go grab a gelato,” she shared. A bikini that can pull double-duty as a full outfit? Sold.

For Balti, designing clothing isn’t anything new. “I’ve always been creative and was a rebellious teenager,” she confessed. “Living modestly, I decided to start sewing clothes that I would sell in markets. Having the chance to model so many beautiful clothes the past 13 years has inspired me to want to create a quality product.”

Balti shared a sweet, nostalgic sentiment when asked about her inspiration for the collection: a memory of “California Dreamin’” spinning on her father’s record player in her small hometown of Lodi, Italy when Balti was just a little girl—a vision that would later inspire her to dream without a ceiling and move to California, “Where,” Balti shared, “dreams can become a reality.”
