Planet Blue names new CEO

California lifestyle retailer Planet Blue has announced Eddie Bromberg as its new Chief Executive Officer. Bromberg was most recently the president at Cotton Citizen where he led the brand's retail expansion.

Bromberg has told ApparelNews.net that he will focus Planet Blue's business on designer collaborations and creating capsule collections, explaining "It is a formula for continued success in a choppy environment.”

Bromberg is a veteran retail exec in the apparel industry and led Cotton Citizen in the opening of its West Hollywood store on Melrose.

Prior to Cotton Citizen, his industry leadership roles included executive vice president at Rock & Republic where he led the company through restructuring. He also founded Industry Concepts, a company that made private-label packages for Christian Audigier, Ed Hardy, American Apparel, Victoria's Secret Pink, Dillard’s, Hot Topic, and Pac Sun.

Earlier in his leadership career he was VP of sales at James Perse and VP at Retail Ops where he led licensing and merchandising for Billabong.

Planet Blue was founded in 1995 by Ling-Su Chinn who remains the company's chief creative officer. It currently operates 12 retail stores and an e-commerce site that is slated for expansion with the recent hire of a series of executives focused on digital e-commerce.

Planet Blue's e-commerce business is also driven by an investment from Breakwater Management. The LA-based private equity firm made a capital investment in the company five years ago to strategically grow both the company's private-label business and e-commerce.

Bromberg replaces James Williams who left his role as CEO earlier this year to start his own consulting firm.
