Lingerie Label, Le Petit Trou Welcomes Swimwear To Their Offering
Established in 2013 by fashion stylist, Zuzanna Kuczyńska meet her utterly gorgeous lingerie-come-loungewear brand, Le Petit Trou. And now, she has added swimwear pieces into the stylish mix.
She founded her brand on the notion that right lingerie has the ability to brighten your outlook while uplifting your mood and boosting your confidence. Quite a powerful combination. There’s a range of flirty lingerie, expect sheer fabric and sweet detailing, then there’s her house robes (who doesnt love a house robe?!) as well as slippers and mules for good measure. Continuing with her thought process, she’s applied this to her swimline with pieces that give assurance in abundance.
Felicity Carter: What was your first memory of fashion?
I do not remember the moment exactly but one of them comes to my mind, It was once when my mother took me to school and we met one of my teachers. She was wearing a t-shirt with the light blue high waisted jeans (it was the 90s). My teacher looked at how she was dressed that day and said that she looked like someone unique. I thought in my minds that my mom looked super cool with the classic timeless jeans. Maybe that was the moment when I realized that the outfit could complement your personality.
FC: When did you first fall in love with fashion?
Zuzanna Kuczyńska: Since I’ve remembered, I was in love with fashion. I started my career as a stylist in my early 20-ties and loved it so much I have done it for the last 10 years.
FC: Tell us about Le Petit Trou…
ZK: I was a stylist for many years, mainly working in the Polish edition of Elle and dressing celebrities, overall doing a lot for others, rather than for myself. During one of the photoshoots, I came up with the idea of launching a brand that couldn’t be found in Poland. It was the time when there were a lot of new brands designing similar things, most of which didn’t have any clear idea of their identity; it was hard to distinguish them from each other. The idea of creating Le Petit Trou was in my mind for 3 years before the actual launch. I wanted to make sure I am ready for such a change, I didn’t want to rush myself into doing it. You have to be ready and self-aware to create something so personal as a lingerie brand. I did not have a business plan or investors; I had good intuition and a lot of support from my fiancé and friends who encouraged me.
FC: You’ve just launched the swim line, how long has that been in the making?
ZK: It took some time. When I launch a completely new product to our collection I want to be prepared for it. The most time I need is to find the right fabrics. In Le Petit Trou swimwear line I wanted to focused on not only quality but also the uniqueness of materials. The line is characterized by textured stretch fabric making them stand out and comfortable at the same time. I would like this line to be consistent with the color and in-keeping with the monochrome lingerie designs. When I thought about swimsuits, I wanted simple, unique designs to fit perfectly and complement the feminine silhouette. Our first line worked very well and now I know that we need to broaden the selection next year. I’m very happy about it.
FC: What’s the process from design to manufacture?
ZK: The process from design to manufacture always takes too long. I design every model more than half a year earlier to show it on fairs to my clients that I work with. When it finally launched it seemed to me that I already know each model and im already working on the next collection.
FC: How would you sum up the aesthetic of your brand and does it resonate with your style?
ZK: Everything that I launch is very close to my aesthetics, both lingerie, swimwear or shoes. All the pieces are my imagination of the needs that modern women in love with fashion have.
FC: Who is your customer?
ZK: Le Petit Trou was made for women who want to feel feminine, fashionable and comfortable in their own skin every single day and for those who put themselves first while buying the lingerie.
FC: Who or what has had the biggest impact on your label?
ZK: I think that my fiance motivated me to start Le Petit Trou. Additionally, he is a person who is not afraid to take a chance and this is very useful. From the beginning, we have been running the brand together.
FC: Now that you have launched a swim line, what’s next for the brand?
ZK: Certainly, we will broaden the line of swimwear and accessories such as shoes or loungewear. For the next season we are planning to expand pajamas to our selection that will perfectly match to wear both in and out. We have some really exciting ideas.
